ServiceTitan plans on scaling from 286 employees at the start of 2018 to more than 550 by the end of the year. For that growth to happen gracefully, existing employees need to upskill quickly to take on bigger roles, while new employees need to onboard ASAP.
And that means a lot of learning needs to happen at ServiceTitan.
“Everything is going to change and those opportunities and challenges that are required to deliver on our mission are going to be far more complex and difficult,” ServiceTitan CEO Ara Mahdessian said. “And the only way to make that happen is by investing very heavily in continuous learning and development.”
Additionally, the culture ServiceTitan Co-Founders Ara Mahdessian and Vahe Kuzoyan are trying to create is one where, as Kuzoyan puts it, “people look back at ServiceTitan and think, man, that was the best experience that I had in my career.”
The solution for both? A devoted learning and development team, which invested in LinkedIn Learning to drive growth on two fronts – for each person at ServiceTitan and the organization as a whole.
“We are a high-performing, high-growing tech company,” ServiceTitan Director of L&D Naphtali Bryant said. “So, we need to make sure that the learning we provide meets the needs of our employees. And LinkedIn Learning was the number-one solution for that.”
Since ServiceTitan rolled out LinkedIn Learning, all of ServiceTitan’s employees have activated their license and the average ServiceTitan employee watches more than five LinkedIn Learning videos a month.
Those numbers are off-the-charts. Why do ServiceTitan employees (aka “Titans”) use it so much?
Because what’s taught in the courses is so applicable to their careers.
“I love being able to pick a topic that I don’t have any knowledge of or I want to go deeper in,” Product Marketing Manager Bella Arutyunyan said. “And, in an hour-and-a-half, I am capable – whether it’s a tool or a concept – and am applying it.”
“I thought it was going to be a waste of time, honestly,” Customer Success Manager Brendon Norton said. “And then you start watching a course or two and I realized I can start implementing this right away. I think that immediate impact is really what drove the value for me, personally.”
“LinkedIn Learning has really helped me with my transition from individual contributor to manager, mostly because it's a really great set of tools to allow me to focus on any individual area that I feel I may not be the strongest at,” Manager of Customer Success Casey Hackett said. “It's really been a huge asset to me to feel like I'm really stepping into my own as a manager of people.”
Those words – beyond the great usage, beyond the C-Suite buy-in – is what Bryant is most proud of.
“The reason I do this work is not for a paycheck, not because of some fancy title, but because of the impact we can have on people’s lives,” Bryant said. “And, I believe the work my team is doing, leveraging tools like LinkedIn Learning, are changing people’s lives. And that means the world to me.”
CHALLENGE:
ServiceTitan was looking for a learning tool that would help them scale while also helping fulfill their employee value proposition of making each employee’s time they spend at the company the best years of their career.
SOLUTION:
LinkedIn Learning fits perfectly into ServiceTitan’s high-growth, high-achieving culture, as it covers both technical and soft skills around the schedule of today’s learners.
RESULTS:
All 100% of ServiceTitan employees have activated their licenses and watch an average of five LinkedIn Learning videos a month. The result is a tangible culture of learning that’s fueling the company’s growth.

“LinkedIn Learning has helped us create what we call ‘boom moments’. You're probably like, ‘What are boom moments?’ Boom moments are those ‘aha’ moments where people realize that something was already there within them that they never knew was there before.”
Naphtali Bryant
Dir. of Learning & Development, ServiceTitan
The immediate impact that LinkedIn Learning has makes it stand out. It's not one of those things that hypothetically in the future I might be able to use some of this, it's immediate as I'm done watching the video and the next day I'm already applying what I learned.”
