The rules of content marketing hold that content marketing should be helpful, informational, useful, entertaining. Your content marketing should avoid the hard sell.

I agree with those rules. But sometimes rules are meant to be broken.

The most effective marketers are creating content for the entire funnel, which means sometimes they’re creating demos (ideally, entertaining, highly informational demos) and other lower funnel content. Which means sometimes you have to ask for the order.

By the way, social media influencer Gary Vaynerchuk agrees with the approach of being helpful in your content marketing — but eventually trying to make the sale.
