Hiring for Content Marketing: Free Webinar Event on 7/8/14

July 3, 2014

It’s a conversation that I regularly have with folks looking for content marketing advice. The question that comes up very often is, "What to look for when hiring a content marketer and what are the right questions to ask? The answer is much less complicated than you might think.

In my opinion better content starts with better writing. The first thing that I look for in a content marketer is someone who either has a background in journalism, or a marketer who really enjoys writing and appreciates good grammar. I believe that either of these traits lay the very foundation of a good content marketer, in fact, I got my start in content marketing many years ago largely based on my skills as a rock n roll journalist. The additional skills can be learned along the way so I tend to view those as “nice to have” instead of “make or break”. It also depends on how mature your company’s content strategy is and how integrated this process is into the rest of the organization. Those are major factors in determining the right person to lead a content marketing strategy. With that being said, I have put together my top takeaways over the years into a comprehensive list of what to look for and I will be sharing these details in the upcoming Hiring for Content Marketing Webinar.

I will be joining expert content marketer and good friend Jesse Noyes, Sr. Director of Content at Kapost. Jesse will be sharing insights and trends happening in the content marketing space currently.
