Linkedin Tech Marketing IBM Connect

At LinkedIn, we love inspiring our members with useful content and new insights. That’s why we’re excited to help power the 2016 IBM InterConnect Conference in Las Vegas, February 21 - 25. The event will feature today’s latest enterprise technology and enable the IBM user community to connect with colleagues, gain new skills and build relationships. However, the best part of IBM InterConnect 2016 is that everyone in tech — whether you attend in person or virtually — can reap the benefits of IBM’s hard work, strategy and innovation.

I had a chance to sit down with two of IBM’s event marketing leads, Ryan Boyles and Rebecca Lalez, and discuss the evolution of IBM InterConnect 2016’s impressive strategy.

For context, IBM, like many other technology companies, was formerly segmented into separate business units. But when the tech industry matured and became more, well, interconnected, IBM needed to break barriers and better align. Ryan put it this way: "The way people were using our technology changed. Our clients weren't just focusing on mobile or just focusing on security or cloud. There was a strategic need to look at everything together and InterConnect is designed to address that need."

Today, IBM InterConnect is an incredible week brimming with innovation. Billed as the globe’s premier cloud and mobile gathering, it will host onwards of 24,000 technology and business leaders. Now in its second year, IBM InterConnect is a hybrid of three previously separate IBM events — Impact (for mobile technology), Innovate (for developers), and Pulse (for IT infrastructure) — and as Rebecca notes, "It’s designed today to enable attendees to dive deep into their respective areas of expertise while also being inspired by the depth and breadth of innovations across so many industries."

Events are a great platform for formal knowledge sharing, deeply rooted in both conversations and connections. That’s why we jumped at the opportunity to support, foster and facilitate various parts of IBM InterConnect 2016’s user-community-driven curriculum. From beginning to end, the conference will provide attendees with various educational opportunities for professional growth and development in addition to enhancing their networks within the enterprise technology and infrastructure space.
