What Do Millennial Marketers Want for the Holidays? [Video]
December 22, 2016
Holiday shopping has its peaks and valleys to be sure. One day you’re feeling the high of finding that perfect gift, the one you just know the recipient is going to adore. The next day you’re trudging out of the mall at closing time with nothing to show for your efforts. See ya later, weekend!
If you have a millennial marketer on your shopping list, I have good news and bad news for you. Let’s start with the good news. I actually asked millennial marketers what they want for the holidays. My informal survey included a small cross-section of 6 millennial marketers at LinkedIn (and one grumpy non-millennial). Watch the video below to see their answers.
If you’re actually shopping for a millennial marketer, you already figured out the bad news: Aside from the potting soil, it’s going to be extremely difficult to procure any of these holiday wishes. Millennial marketers have a reputation for being results and data-driven, and that was certainly reflected in the answers I received. But how do you buy someone marketing results? And what’s the acceptable way to wrap them?
Here’s an actual “gift” idea for the millennials in your marketing department: According to HubSpot’s The State of Inbound 2016 report, 43% of marketers said that proving the ROI of their marketing activities was their top marketing challenge. If you’re among the marketers who have trouble proving ROI, whatever the reason, there may be a millennial on your team who is ready, willing, and able to demonstrate statistical evidence of success for you. Think of it as a reciprocal gift.
