The Sophisticated Marketer’s Podcast: Heavy Metal and Healthy Habits with Chris Brogan
February 23, 2016
It might surprise some of you to read this, but I am a huge heavy metal fan.
Okay, so maybe I don’t play that card (The Ace of Spades, naturally) too close to the vest. But I’ve been surprised at how many of my fellow B2B marketers have metalhead proclivities. For example, my guest this week has been known to bang his head on occasion: It’s my friend and mentor, Chris Brogan.
In addition to his excellent taste in music, Chris is the CEO of Owner Media Group, a keynote speaker just about everywhere, and the New York Times bestselling author of eight books. His latest book, The Freaks Shall Inherit the Earth, is all about finding the people who share your weirdness to build your own unique business.
Chris and I are definitely the same kind of weird. Join us as we discuss time management, content strategy, and the transcendence of Metallica’s black album.
Listen in on the conversation as Chris and I discuss:
The Power of the “No Door”: Chris talks about the importance of finding an audience that is the right fit for you. He explains why there are right people and wrong people to buy whatever it is you’re selling.
The Value of “Attention Assets”: A.K.A., why giving away valuable content is a solid business plan.
How to Find Inspiration for Quality Content: Chris explains the structures he has in place to keep his mental swipe file stocked up with great ideas.
The One Common Habit of Incredibly Successful People: Chris reveals what Richard Branson, Disney CEO Bob Iger, and Dr. Phil have in common, and how B2B marketers can follow their example.
How to Make Progress Instead of Staying Busy: Chris details his time management system, and the philosophy behind it that makes him incredibly productive without sacrificing his personal time.

Chris is a good friend, remarkable marketer, and all-around excellent human being. I’m so grateful he could join me for a chat. And thanks to all of you for listening, rating, and sharing the podcast with other weirdos in our little tribe.
