What's Trending: Key Content Marketing Trends in 2018

March 9, 2018

Typing on old Typewriter

Recently I came across a digital scan of a newspaper from the early 1900s. It was cool to see the historic recordings of another era, but what really surprised me was how similar its contents were to what you’d find in a newspaper today.

Sure, the layout was more chaotic, and the subject matter drastically different. But the writing — the headline structures, the attention-grabbing ledes, the inverted pyramid format, the stylistic conventions — it was all so familiar. And it all still works.

That’s a far cry from the world of content marketing, which truly seems to change by the day.

“If you’re sticking with your content approach from three years ago, it’s now 50% less effective,” asserts Steve Rayson in introducing BuzzSumo’s new Content Trends 2018 report. And the data certainly bears that out.

To help ensure your strategy remains 100% effective, let’s dig deeper into BuzzSumo’s findings as we kick off another round of your weekly top trending content for marketers.
