Recently I came across a digital scan of a newspaper from the early 1900s. It was cool to see the historic recordings of another era, but what really surprised me was how similar its contents were to what you’d find in a newspaper today.
Sure, the layout was more chaotic, and the subject matter drastically different. But the writing — the headline structures, the attention-grabbing ledes, the inverted pyramid format, the stylistic conventions — it was all so familiar. And it all still works.
That’s a far cry from the world of content marketing, which truly seems to change by the day.
