Daniel Foggo

Daniel has an extensive background in finance having been a director of the investment banking division of Barclays Capital and having advised on billions of dollars of mergers and acquisitions at NM Rothschild, the European financial advisory business. From his experience in the finance industry, Daniel saw that traditional finance in Australia had shifted from providing a lubricant to the economy, to becoming a barrier to economic growth. He went to Europe in 2012 to find a business model that could provide a better answer. When he met RateSetter, he knew he’d found the right business. He immediately started working on building a team to bring RateSetter to Australia. RateSetter now offers Australians a modern alternative. RateSetter’s online marketplace lets people lend and borrow money directly and by cutting out traditional middlemen both savers and borrowers can get better rates, in a fairer form of finance. Daniel has led the expansion of the company’s local shareholder base to include Carsales and Stratton Finance, opening up the opportunity for P2P lending to play a meaningful role in the car finance market and ensuring its longer term structural relevance.
