In the past decade, sales professionals have moved past the “what” and the “why” of social selling. You know that when social selling is done right, it can help you prospect more effectively, build better relationships, and ultimately close more deals.

The only big question left is, “how?” How can you get the most out of your social selling efforts? How can you measure your progress and continue to improve?

LinkedIn created the Social Selling Index (SSI) to help you answer these questions. The SSI is based on the most effective LinkedIn habits of over 5,000 sales professionals. It measures your social selling activity with a 1-25 scale on each of the four drivers of social selling success:

  • Creating a Professional Brand
  • Finding the Right People
  • Engaging with Insights
  • Building Strong Relationships

Your SSI score is a strong predictor of how effective you are at social selling. We’ve found that sales professionals with a high SSI create 45% more opportunities and are 51% more likely to reach quota than those with lower scores.

It’s easy to check your SSI. First, make sure you’re signed into LinkedIn. Then go to the LinkedIn Social Selling Index Page and click “Get your score free” to go to your own personalized SSI dashboard. How is your score? How does it measure up to your colleagues?
