Live from Talent Connect Sydney: Salmat’s Lighthearted Talent Brand Video Makes Waves

If you're still grappling with how to create an authentic, compelling video that humanizes your brand and makes your company feel like a desirable place to work, you need to check out this video. It is simple, quirky, not particularly hip - yet hugely fun and stunningly effective. And best of all, it’s for a function we all recruit for and struggle to make approachable - namely, Finance.

There's been a lot of discussion around talent brand this week at Talent Connect Sydney. Companies as diverse as Campbell Arnott's (yes, I had my first glorious Tim Tam this week), Defence Force Recruiting, and Telstra have opened the books to share their employer branding strategies. The force that is Ed Nathanson of Rapid7 took to the stage yesterday, wowing the crowd with his right-on message about avoiding stock photos and vanilla branding, instead celebrating what makes your culture different.

Today it was the turn of Anastasia Liberatos of Salmat, one of Australia's leading marketing services companies. I just sat in the back of a packed auditorium, observing the audience as they reacted to the clever video shared during Anastasia’s keynote.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Salmat’s Finance department. Note how this video takes on a part of the company that usually isn’t considered the most thrilling (sorry, Finance…this is a biased Marketing observation), and shatters this image. The video instead puts the emphasis on team, on fun, on being down to earth. Wherever our careers take us, we all want to feel a sense of belonging, of camaraderie. It’s hard not to watch this and want to go for a pint with the team that stars in it. The video is already persuading great candidates to take a closer look at Salmat, and my feeling is it deserves a whole lot more than 312 views.
