This week, Lou Adler brings home the point that first impressions have no place in recruiting. According to a survey he conducted, anywhere between 60% and 90% of recruiters admit that they either dislike or feel neutral about a person as soon as they meet them. This of course can be detrimental to picking out the best candidate, and Lou shares some tips on how to defeat this initial bias. Step one: when you meet people, don’t think “possible best friend.” Instead, try to see if they can be a “strong co-worker.”
