This week the news is that 60% of hiring managers say they have caught candidates embellishing and lying on their resumes. Most often people exaggerate their skill sets and responsibilities, but often they also tweak their dates of employment and job titles. Some of the more memorable distortions of the truth include claims that candidates have won Olympic medals, babysat the kids of celebrities like Madonna, or assisted the prime minister of a country that it turns out does not have a prime minister.
