A bit of history—employer brand and talent brand
You may have noticed that we’re testing your “talent brand” smarts. Why the terminology selection?
According to Wikipedia (a source I trust 100% of the time), “employer branding” is a concept that emerged in the early 1990s. Recruiters in the industry back then, please vouch for this. If it’s wrong—take it up with Wikipedia.
“Talent brand” is a newer term, emerging along with the social web, that evolves the definition of employer branding to incorporate what talent thinks, feels, and shares about your company as a place to work. This is a necessary evolutions given that you (the employer) no longer own your brand— your talent (past, current, and future) does.
