Talent Connect

Join Me for the Talent Connect Live Stream in October

Astronaut. Professional skateboarder. Talk show host. When you're growing up, you have dreams of what your future might hold. Those were a few of mine, and those hopes have been dormant for awhile now...but then a phone call rekindles a dream...

I'm excited to share that I will be hosting the live stream for LinkedIn's annual talent acquisition conference — Talent Connect. The conference will be from October 13 though 15 in Anaheim and it will feature impressive heavy hitters from talent acquisition and HR and their stories of transformation and innovation.

The live steam is for those who cannot attend the conference in person and will give you a glimpse of prime bits of event — keynotes with talent acquisition leaders from Uber and L'Oréal as well as celebrities like Andy Cohen (the executive producer of the Real Housewives himself). Best of all, it’s free to register and watch.

To give you a more exclusive experience, I'll be interviewing keynote speakers, interacting with attendees, and finding new ways to bring the online audience inside the Anaheim Convention Center through social media (who knows, maybe my version of Ron Burgundy, shown in the video above, will make another appearance). We're going to have some fun with this.

Here are some specifics on what you can expect:

Transformational keynotes from talent acquisition heavy hitters:

1. L'Oréal’s Frédérique Scavennec, VP of Talent, and Zvi Goldfarb, Head of Talent Acquisition Digital Lab:

Frederique and Zvi will share best practices on scaling an organization globally when it comes to content marketing, direct sourcing, and translating big-data to “small data” to achieve sustainable growth.

2. Uber's Renee Atwood, Global Head of People:

In her keynote, Atwood will detail the recruiting strategies Uber implemented to fuel its hyper-growth, which started with building a strong culture within the company. She will also cover the company's innovative interviewing philosophy, giving freedom to its teams in different cities to implement creative ideas like “interview in an Uber,” where (you guessed it) Uber candidates are interviewed during an Uber ride.

3. LinkedIn’s CHRO Pat Wadors and Head of Talent Acquisition, Brendan Browne:

Pat and Brendan discuss how they have successfully aligned talent acquisition and talent management for success (and it wasn’t always smooth sailing).

Frederique and Zvi will share best practices on scaling an organization globally when it comes to content marketing, direct sourcing, and translating big-data to “small data” to achieve sustainable growth.

Inspirational talks:

4. Jia Jiang, Founder, Author, Speaker, Wuju Learning:

Jia is also known as the Rejection Guy. He knows first-hand how the fear of rejection can hold us back. The tendency to avoid it at all costs can be detrimental to our business, our careers, our lives. Determined to change that, Jia takes us down a path where rejection, instead of being avoided, is deliberately and actively sought.

5. Andy Cohen:

Andy is an Emmy Award-winning host, producer, and author. As the EVP of Development and Talent at Bravo, he is uniquely positioned to know what lies at the heart of great talent and careers. Andy will share the truly unconventional path he’s taken to get to where he is today. He will also share his perspective on what makes great talent, and lessons learned along the way.

6. Veronika Scott, Founder & CEO, The Empowerment Plan:

Veronika takes audiences on her journey from being on track to becoming a top product designer to dedicating her life to the empowerment of others through her own non-profit organization. She will share anecdotes from her time at a homeless shelter in Detroit where she conducted the research for her coat prototype. She also shares how her idea for creating a coat for the homeless led her to hiring the homeless.

The latest LinkedIn vision and product announcements

7. Jeff Weiner, LinkedIn's CEO:

Jeff will share the vision for LinkedIn’s future and products.

8. VP of LinkedIn Talent Solutions, Wade Burgess, and Head of Product for Talent Solutions, Eddie Vivas:

Wade and Eddie will take the stage to walk you through the latest talent product announcements.
