It’s hard to get passive candidates’ attention. It’s even harder to
convince them to join your company. How can you cut through the clutter
and get them to respond to your jobs?
We looked at 7 million LinkedIn members to find out how they changed
jobs. Then, we surveyed 10,500 of them to ask why they switched. We
discovered some best practices you can use to woo both active and
passive candidates to your organization. Here are a few:
- It’s not all about the money: Above all, candidates are looking
for growth, so offer them career opportunities, not jobs. That said,
candidates do expect higher salaries in this region, so prepare to pay.
- Referrals and online networks rule: Most people first hear about a
job opportunity through referrals and social professional networks.
Invest your time and money in those channels — especially when it
comes to passive candidates.
- Keep in touch. The top obstacle to changing jobs is applying to a
company and not hearing back. Change this by communicating with your
candidates every step of the way.
