Vanessa Nicol
Vanessa has over 17 years experience in the Telecommunications industry, in a wide variety of Marketing, Advertising and Product Development roles. She began her career in marketing, working for Optus where she developed an early passion for technology.
Her career flourished at Optus as she was able to move from a marketing executive in product marketing to Channel Marketing Manager, into Retail Marketing and in 2006, where she held the position of Acquisition Marketing Manager; managing an advertising budget of over $30M annually.
In 2008, she spent a year working as National Marketing Manager for a million dollar subsidiary of Optus, managing all trade and channel marketing within selected channels. She moved back to Acquisition marketing in 2009 for Virgin Mobile Australia and was managing a team of 12, across retail, telesales and online mediums.
In 2011, Vanessa moved to M&C Saatchi, a creative agency, to work on the Optus Business as Group Account Director, before quickly advancing to Senior Business director. She led the account management team of 30 people across all areas of the business: including Sponsorship, Customer Management, Business, Direct, Retail and Brand.
Vanessa joined OMD in 2014, taking the lead role of the agencies key client Telstra. As Head of Telstra she currently leads a team of 38 people and manages this premium brand that spend $110M annually.
Vanessa is a creative, critically and strategic thinker. She is a results (sales) driving marketing professional and has a strong passion for managing complex pieces of business, leadings large teams, working as a partner to clients in collective development of communications solutions that leverage business opportunities. She has a proven track record of managing and launching effective multi-channel communication initiatives in critically fast moving environments.
