Mohamed El-Erian
CEO, PIMCO
Dr. Mohamed A. El-Erian is CEO and co-CIO of PIMCO, the global investment management firm with around $2 trillion of assets under management. He re-joined PIMCO at the end of 2007 after serving for two years as President and CEO of Harvard Management Company, the entity that manages Harvard’s endowment and related accounts.
He first joined PIMCO in 1999 and was a senior member of PIMCO's portfolio management and investment strategy group. Before coming to PIMCO, Dr. El-Erian was a managing director at Salomon Smith Barney/Citigroup in London and before that, he spent 15 years at the International Monetary Fund in Washington, D.C.
Dr. El-Erian has published widely on international economic and finance topics. In addition to regular op eds in a number of publications, he is a member of the Financial Times “A List” and a contributing editor for Foreign Policy. His 2008 book, "When Markets Collide," was a New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestseller, won the Financial Times/Goldman Sachs Business Book of the Year and was named a book of the year by The Economist and one of the best business books of all time by The Independent (UK). He was named to Foreign Policy’s list of “Top 100 Global Thinkers” for 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012.
Dr. El-Erian has served on several boards and committees, including the U.S. Treasury Borrowing Advisory Committee, the International Center for Research on Women, the Peterson Institute for International Economics and the IMF's Committee of Eminent Persons. In December 2012, he was appointed Chair of the President’s Global Development Council. He is currently a board member of the NBER, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and Cambridge in America. He holds a master's degree and doctorate in economics from Oxford University and received his undergraduate degree from Cambridge University.
David Edelman
Partner & Global Co-Leader, McKinsey Digital
For more than 20 years, David has specialized in helping marketing executives manage the strategy, organization, and infrastructure transformations required to become “digitally adroit” leaders in their markets and industries. As co-leader of the Digital Marketing Strategy group, David has helped CMOs and other executives across industries understand the implications of the evolving digital environment and implement the deep changes needed to enable digital strategies.
His recent experience includes: transforming marketing strategy and operations to exploit new digital capabilities for multiple clients; developing new digitally based lines of business in financial services; realigning go-to-market channel approach for B2B service providers; and designing the organization for a balanced local/global digital marketing process in consumer products.
David was previously at Digitas, where he helped clients craft their digital marketing strategies and worked alongside the agency’s creative and technology teams on implementation. He also oversaw all of the agency’s media and CRM analytics services, helping them add cross-channel and advanced targeting capabilities. Before that, as a partner with The Boston Consulting Group, he pioneered early work at the intersection of marketing and database technology, developing their “Segment of One Marketing” strategy service line, and then led development of the E-Commerce practice.
A frequent contributor to leading publications, and a Top 5 LinkedIn Influencer, David has also spoken or participated in panels at many top CMO and industry gatherings. He is also on the advisory board of the Yellowbrick Foundation.
Anne Ackerley
Managing Director, BlackRock
Anne F. Ackerley, Managing Director, is the Chief Marketing Officer of BlackRock, and the COO for the Marketing and Communications Group. In these global roles, she drives BlackRock’s marketing and communications strategy, including the firm's ongoing efforts to build the BlackRock brand. Ms. Ackerley also manages all aspects of marketing operations.
Prior to her current roles, she was the Chief Operating Officer of BlackRock’s Global Client Group, developing and driving strategy across BlackRock’s client businesses from 2009 – 2011, and she held various key roles in BlackRock’s US Retail Group from 2000-2009. Ms. Ackerley is a member of the Global Operating Committee and the Human Capital Committee. Additionally, she is co-chair of BlackRock’s WIN East. She has also served as the business liaison to the mutual fund boards and was President of BlackRock’s open- and closed-end mutual funds.
Prior to joining BlackRock in 2000, Ms. Ackerley spent 15 years at Merrill Lynch, most recently as the Chief Operating Officer for the mergers and acquisitions department.
Ms. Ackerley served on the board of Governors of the Investment Company Institute from 2002 to 2005. She serves on the Harvard-Radcliffe Alumni Schools Committee and on the board of the Ethical Culture Fieldston School.
Ms. Ackerley earned a BA degree, magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, in economics from Harvard College in 1984, and an MBA degree from Harvard Business School in 1988.
Johan Jervoe
Global Group Chief Marketing Officer, UBS
Johan Jervoe took up the role of Global Group Chief Marketing Officer at UBS in October 2013, and is based in Zurich, Switzerland. He joined UBS from Intel, where he held responsibility for advertising, web/digital marketing, events and demos, marketing communications, identity and global creative agencies.
Prior to Intel, Johan was Corporate VP for Global Marketing at McDonald's, culminating 13+ years with the company in the US and Europe. He oversaw marketing technology and innovation (digital), global entertainment, and sports partnerships, including the McDonald's sponsorship of the Olympic Games and FIFA World Cup. He was previously Chief Marketing Officer for McDonald’s Germany where he led the team behind 'I’m Lovin' It'.
Before joining McDonald's, Johan was Brand Manager at Kraft (Millka), and consultant with Roland Berger, in Vienna, Austria.
He is the Chairman of the World Federation of Advertisers' Committee for integrated marketing and serves as board member of the Chicago Architectural Foundation. Johan holds an MBA from the Vienna Business School.
