What does a construction project manager do?
A construction project manager oversees and coordinates all aspects of construction projects, from initiation to execution and completion. They meticulously plan, direct and manage the project, ensuring it stays on budget and schedule. They also handle the preparation and review of project bids and the negotiation and management of subcontractor contracts.
Construction project managers are primarily responsible for ensuring the successful execution of construction projects, making them indispensable assets to any organisation. Quality control and compliance with safety regulations are crucial aspects of their role, ensuring projects meet contractual and legal requirements. They also work closely with stakeholders, including clients, architects, engineers, contractors and subcontractors, in order to define project objectives, establish timelines, allocate resources and manage budgets.
Do note that a construction project manager manages the entire project, including a budget, schedule, subcontractor contracts and customer inquiries. In contrast, a construction manager focuses on on-site operations, ensuring construction quality, safety compliance and coordinating activities.
In the Indian market, where infrastructure development is booming and construction projects are rising, hiring a skilled construction project manager is vital for firms looking to deliver projects efficiently, within budget and in compliance with quality and safety standards.
