What does a CSR manager do?
CSR stands for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Thus, a CSR manager develops and implements strategies that promote sustainable and ethical business practices in a firm. They are responsible for planning, executing and managing CSR initiatives that align with the company’s values and goals.
In India’s competitive, diverse and socially conscious market, CSR managers ensure that companies operate in a socially responsible manner while contributing positively to the community and environment. By extension, they help in bridging the gap between business operations and social responsibility.
The primary role of CSR managers is to engage with stakeholders, including employees, communities and government bodies, to identify and address social and environmental issues. They develop and oversee programs related to sustainability, community development and ethical business practices. Their expertise in creating impactful CSR programs, managing budgets and measuring the effectiveness of these initiatives is vital for achieving long-term sustainability goals, enhancing stakeholder trust and building a positive brand image.
Do note that sustainability managers are different from CSR managers. While the former focuses primarily on environmental sustainability and resource management, the latter has a broader scope, including social and community aspects.
