What does an e-commerce manager do?
E-commerce managers or eCommerce managers are responsible for managing a company’s online sales and presence. The role of e-commerce managers involves overseeing the online store’s design, functionality, and user experience, as well as managing digital marketing campaigns, optimising sales funnels, and improving conversion rates.
In a fast-evolving digital landscape, e-commerce managers are critical for driving revenue growth and ensuring the company remains competitive in the online marketplace.
These professionals work closely with marketing, IT, product, and customer service teams to ensure seamless online store operations. They track sales performance, implement promotional strategies, and analyse customer behaviour to enhance the overall shopping experience. Their ultimate goal is to increase sales, improve the customer journey, and align the e-commerce strategy with the company’s overall business objectives.
Note that e-commerce managers may be confused with sales, supply chain, and product managers. The former is dedicated solely to online sales and digital customer engagements. On the contrary, sales managers focus on offline sales channels and direct customer interactions. Supply chain managers oversee logistics, supply chain management, and operations. Product managers focus on the lifecycle of a specific product.
