THE CHALLENGE

Three converging challenges

Amex GBT's talent development team faced three converging challenges: a need for consistent global onboarding, intensified by the acquisition of CWT and the shift to Workday Journeys; growing demand for AI literacy, fueled by their leadership's call to action for enterprise-wide education; and a highly distributed workforce, 92% virtual and spread across dozens of time zones, requiring accessible, practical, and flexible learning experiences.

The organization needed a solution that offered curated, consumable, role-relevant upskilling—while also meeting stringent requirements around responsible AI adoption.

Function-specific AI learning tracks

Amex GBT used LinkedIn Learning’s AI framework, plus LinkedIn Learning’s structured pathways and high-quality content, to power new initiatives and make AI education relevant to each team:

  • AI 101, a 25-minute foundational experience designed for all employees.
  • AI 201, a deeper dive into prompt writing, paired with a creative “Prompt Pitch Challenge.”
  • Function-specific AI learning tracks for engineers, data scientists, commercial teams, and HR.
