More time learning among Teradata employees using AI-powered features
Teradata employees using LinkedIn Learning were 1.7x more likely to move internally
LinkedIn Learning Career Hub gives us real-time visibility into how skills are shifting and helps our business adapt. It helps us equip our people with the right skills at the right time to keep us competitive as a company.
Rebecca Tinsley, VP, Global People, Talent Management and Strategy at Teradata
THE CHALLENGE
Teradata is a global data and AI company headquartered in California, serving the world’s top companies across financial services, telecommunications, healthcare, retail, manufacturing, and transportation. The Teradata Autonomous AI and Knowledge Platform provides enterprise-grade foundation required to scale AI responsibly and effectively, with built-in analytics, governance, performance, and security across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments. As an AI leader facing unrelenting market change, Teradata had to become its own customer zero, innovating with AI internally as fast as it sells AI solutions externally.
At the time of adopting LinkedIn Learning, Teradata was in the early stages of evolving to a more integrated skills strategy. Skill development efforts existed across functions, with an opportunity to further align them to enterprise priorities and changing role requirements. The team was early in its jobs-to-skills mapping journey, working through foundational questions such as the distinctions between skills, capabilities, and competencies” Without a shared language for the skills that matter most, Teradata couldn’t move people fast enough to keep pace with its AI offerings.
THE SOLUTION
For a company rooted in data and AI, Teradata couldn't afford a workforce that wasn't fluent in either. LinkedIn Learning Career Hub gave their talent leaders real-time skills intelligence grounded in LinkedIn's 1 billion+ member network, without displacing their LMS, HCM, or knowledge platforms already in place. And through the Microsoft Viva Glint integration, upskilling, insights, and recommendations reach managers and employees where they already are.
LinkedIn Learning Career Hub’s skills intelligence reporting gives Teradata a way to look ahead. The team can track growing capabilities, compare learning trends to industry peers, and find hidden talent inside their organization.
AI-powered Role Play removes the fear of failure. After a live demo to 75% of Teradata’s people managers, one leader used it to prepare for a difficult stakeholder conversation, refining their approach before going live.
A four-week CareerU campaign delivered five minutes of content every weekday to 300+ employees, turning daily learning into a habit. And LinkedIn Learning Career Hub’s Next Role Explorer feature helped employees set career goals and receive personalized learning tied to the roles they want next.
THE RESULTS
Nearly half of Teradata’s workforce engaged with LinkedIn Learning AI content in 2025, and learning license activation rose to 74% — up 11 percentage points year over year. Teradata’s most popular 2025 AI courses included Driving AI Success with Microsoft; The Manager’s Guide to Integrating and Managing AI Agents; Agentic AI Fundamentals.
Learners who used AI-powered features spent 25% more time learning. Some teams are already planning to make AI-Powered Role Play a team sport — completing scenarios independently, then debriefing as a group on what they learned.
In 2025, 130 employees advanced through internal moves, including 42 promotions, 73 function changes, and 113 occupation shifts. Employees leveraged LinkedIn Learning to start career conversations and build the skills to help them reach their next role.
AI-powered Role Play helps Teradata employees build skills in the five minutes between meetings. And a lot of Teradata employees are curious about their next role. Next Role Explorer helps guide our employees’ internal mobility.
