Boosting your post

Boosting turns a successful organic post into a paid ad on the Linkedin feed to get more reach.

See how Boosting works

1. Getting ready to boost

You need the right permissions to boost

LinkedIn page admin permission.
We now offer 4 levels of access to a LinkedIn page. You need to be at least a “content admin” of the company page you’re boosting from. If you’re not already at least a content admin, follow instructions in this Help Center article.

Access to Campaign Manager (Optional).
If you’d like the boost to be charged to an existing Campaign Manager account, you need “campaign manager” and above access for that account.

To get access:
•  Ask the marketing contact in your organization who the admin is on the account.
•  Make sure you’re connected with that admin on LinkedIn.
•  Once you’re connected, they can then grant you “campaign manager” access.

2. Select a post to boost

Look back on your recent posts for one that’s received higher than average engagement (likes, shares, comments). Only select post are boostable (learn more).

3. Select an objective

Selecting an objective helps us deliver the ads to people most likely to take the action you want (view, engage or click). Choose from brand awareness, engagement video views and website visits.

Awareness: we deliver your ads to people among your target audience most likely to view your ad.
Video views: we deliver your ads to people among your target audience most likely to view your video.
Engagement: we deliver your ads to people among your target audience most likely to like, share, comment, click or follow.
Website visits: we deliver your ad to people among your target audience most likely to click to your landing page.

4. Select your audience

When targeting by attributes related to members’ LinkedIn profile, choose from job function, industry, location and seniority. And don’t make your audience too small. Excluding an audience is optional.

5. Set your budget and schedule

Budget more than $25 per day. Remember that there is a minimum budget on LinkedIn because LinkedIn is a premium network of professionals and decision makers. Your budget minimum varies based on your schedule.

6. Select your payment

Enter your credit card information or select an existing account if you have one. Entering a credit card will automatically create a Campaign Manager account for you.

7. Measure performance

Access metrics located by clicking on “manage ads” under ellipsis ( ••• ) in the original boosted post to access Campaign Manager or expand window below the post to see both organic and promoted metrics.
