Hugh Burkitt
The Marketing Society

Hugh is Chief Executive of the Marketing Society. The Society is the leading network for senior marketers. Each year it runs over 100 events across its five global hubs including The Marketing Society Excellence Awards. It also publishes Market Leader.

As Chief Executive, Hugh has been responsible for the launch of the Society’s Manifesto for Marketing Leadership and the Marketing Leaders Programme in association with Brand Learning for aspiring marketing directors.

He began his own career as a Unilever trainee at Birds Eye Foods and progressed via the Manchester Business School to Collett Dickenson Pearce, founding the agency Burkitt Weinreich Bryant in 1986, and leaving in 2002 as Chairman of Burkitt DDB. He has served on the Council of the ASA, the AA and IPA, and is a past President of the Solus Club.

He has edited three editions of Marketing Excellence: a review of the lessons to be learned from the winners of the Marketing Society’s Excellence Awards.

He is a trustee of Barnardo’s and the Academy of Ancient Music.
