The Italian bank needed a partner with the expertise to efficiently and effectively help upskill its employees. LinkedIn Learning was quickly identified as the perfect solution for its learning needs and to help illimity create a culture of continuous learning.
The Challenge
Upskilling a diverse workforce in a fast-paced, tech-driven environment
Due to its unique structure and rapid growth, illimity faced significant challenges in training and developing its workforce. With over 800+ employees from over 380 different organisations within more than 20 industries, the banking group needed its people to engage with continuous upskilling and reskilling. In this dynamic environment, where employees frequently shifted roles on diverse projects, traditional training methods fell short. The HR team identified that annual training sessions quickly became outdated as they lacked personalisation.
illimity also needed to stay ahead of emerging trends while simultaneously meeting compliance demands in a highly regulated market. The organisation’s reliance on an external content library—managed by HR—proved to be inefficient as it did not cater to the unique needs of employees, making critical training opportunities challenging to access. Recognising these hurdles, illimity needed to adopt a Learning Management System (LMS) capable of providing immediate access to quality training resources, and driving professional development aligned with personal and organisational goals.
The Solution
Creating a culture of continuous learning and innovation
illimity partnered with LinkedIn and embarked on a transformative journey in employee development. The company integrated LinkedIn Learning into its existing LMS, this provided the organisation with access to a vast library of courses and resources tailored to employees' needs.
Prior to this launch, illimity's leadership team had been educated on the tool’s benefits, this helped establish a culture of support and advocacy from the start. A multi-step communication strategy was implemented to ensure all employees were aware of the platform and its potential. This included regular newsletters that spotlighted new content and encouraged exploration of features like personalised learning paths and skills mapping.
Engagement was further amplified through learner challenges and a “Curious Learner” initiative promoted by the Chief Human Resources Officer. By creating focused learning paths that addressed vital skills, including cybersecurity and digital tools, the organisation successfully transformed the learning framework within the organisation.
As a result, illimity achieved a remarkable milestone—user activation surged from 56% to 100%, with average monthly usage going from 0.6 to 1.7 hours per user. This strategic approach not only enriched employee development but embedded LinkedIn Learning as an essential element of illimity’s talent management strategy.
