Scaling At Speed with Data-Led Insights
Challenge
Showpad was founded in Belgium in 2011 and has grown to include more than four-hundred employees across seven offices, in five different countries. The company has tripled in size over the last two years and shows no signs of slowing its pace of growth as it expands its presence globally. With this level of hyper growth Peter Geiregat, Vice President of People, needed talent pool insights to strategically guide the company's expansion.
The Solution
As Showpad aimed to expand internationally, Peter turned to Talent Insights to assess different markets to help inform his decision of where to open a new office, where to locate new employees and what universities to partner with in order to source the best talent. The team also used the data in Talent Insights to track the activities of key competitors as well as setting internal benchmarking targets on areas such as tenure, attrition, growth rate and total employee count.
The Results
Determine new office locations: Leveraging the Talent Pool data in Talent Insights, Peter and his team identified Wroclaw and Munich as rich sources of talent and set up offices in both cities.
Optimise workforce distribution: Using the tool, Peter conducted an assessment of how Showpad's workforce is distributed and where they could locate certain key business functions. Following this assessment, he opted to locate his staff in different locations than where they'd originally intended to locate them.
Enhance business development: Showpad also used Talent Insights to map out the maturity of markets for sales enablement by assessing how often “sales enablement” was mentioned as a skill in each market. Using this information, Peter was able to prioritise key markets to target and drive more sales qualified opportunities for the company’s sales team.
Build competitive benchmarking: Peter and his team also used Talent Insights to benchmark against other companies, and used the results in the tool to better inform their commercial activities and internal HR activities such as organisational design.
Create a strategic University partnership: Peter and his team knew that some of the skills they were looking for were incredibly hard to hire. To help Showpad source this critical talent, Peter and his team identified which universities were producing this talent and found that one in particular produced 80% of the talent they needed in a key market. They set up a partnership with that university at careers fairs, which allowed them to find the talent they need before they joined the workforce!
