Objectives of this Role

  • Assist in the development of business and investment strategies in service of an optimal tax return
  • Ensure federal and corporate tax preparation meets regulatory requirements
  • Review operations and procedures to ensure compliance with local statutes and regulations
  • Suggest new policies and procedures designed to improve the efficiency of collecting and reporting tax planning information from relevant department heads

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities

  • Prepare, process, and maintain paperwork related to all aspects of the accounting cycle, culminating in the preparation and filing of returns
  • Confirm the accuracy of records and deposits as they pertain to tax reporting and preparation
  • Maintain written and oral communication between the organization, the IRS, and all relevant outside regulatory agencies and vendors
  • Stay up to date with changing tax codes and accounting laws
  • Conduct research on tax compliance issues on the local, state, and federal level 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of accounting methods, tax law, and audits
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Acute attention to detail
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency with relevant accounting software

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • Proven track record as a tax specialist or analyst
  • Legal or accounting background
  • CPA certification
  • Experience managing extensive volumes of paperwork and accounting for a corporation or large organization
