Objectives of this Role
- Cultivate a safe, secure, and healthy environment for patients and colleagues, and to enhance quality of service and care offered to patients and for respective provider(s)
- Understand provider-to-patient flow to assist physicians and nurses in maintaining an efficient, productive office
- Create and maintain relationships of confidence and trust with new and existing patients
- Help answer patient questions and address concerns before, during, and after examinations
- Maintain/update accurate and secure electronic patient medical records
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean, sanitary office, including the preparation of examination and treatment rooms with necessary instruments prior to each appointment
- Accompany patients to examination or treatment room, interview patients, measure vital signs, update patient information and changes in medical history, and prepare patient for examination and/or treatment
- Maintain patient records for clinical use, medical records use, billing use, physicians review, etc., and assist in the transition from hardcopy to digital formatting
- Keep medical supplies well-stocked, placing orders for materials when necessary
- Develop and maintain accurate scheduling databases for patient appointments to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support decision-making
- Contribute to continuous process improvement by taking an active role in patient experience and satisfaction
Skills and Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in medical assistance or other medical field
- Multiple years of experience as a medical assistant in a healthcare facility
- Proven organizational skills
- Working knowledge of patient management software systems (e.g. NueMD, Veristream, AdvancedMD)
- Superior communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a medical specialty
- Strong working knowledge of inventory management processes
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with medical professionals
- High levels of professionalism
- Proven dedication to patient-centered care
- Fluency in Spanish, Russian, Vietnamese, Mandarin/Cantonese, Arabic or American Sign Language
